Good Afternoon, I just wanted to send out a quick update based on some of the work that has been carried out in Hatch Warren recently in order to tackle some of the youth related ASB that is occurring Officers from the South/West Basingstoke Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) have been carrying out proactive patrols and enquiries into youth related anti-social behaviour (ASB) in the Hatch Warren area.
Investigations have been carried out into recent reports of anti-social behaviour at McDonald’s at Hatch Warren Retail Park and a burglary at Hatch Warren Infant School in September.
Two 14-year-old boys were yesterday arrested on suspicion of burglary other than dwelling with intent to steal and criminal damage in connection with the incident at the school. Both have been given bail conditions to not attend specific areas, curfews and they now must work with our Youth Offending Teams.
As part of our ASB enquiries, some children have been formally banned from four of the local businesses in the Hatch Warren area due to causing ASB, criminal damage, and shoplifting. Some of the bans that have been issued are applied to all stores nationwide.
As well as this, officers have been carrying out proactive patrols in the area to show a presence and deter the youths, engaging with the businesses and provided support where possible. Meetings have been held with the local residents to fully understand what their concerns are and we are working alongside them and the Neighbourhood Watch Schemes to identify those who are committing ASB in their local area.
During these proactive patrols, we have also seized six illegal e-scooters as part of our operation to tackle the use of illegal e-scooters in public places. As a reminder, e-scooters are illegal to be used in all public areas, and they can be seized from you.
Officers will continue to work alongside the local businesses and residents to robustly deal with any youths that are causing issues.
